Fees charged for family history research and location photography
My standard fee is £30 per hour, plus expenses. There are no hidden charges. I want you to be in control of all expenditure relating to the research you want me to conduct on your behalf.
We will agree a programme of work and I will report back to you with progress at the end of the agreed period. Please also note that I am obliged to charge for time spent on research even if, in the end, few results are generated, unfortunately genealogy is not the exact science some people think it is!

Travel Expenses
I charge 45p per mile plus any parking charges. Examples of current rates for return journeys to Record Offices are:-

Other related ‘expenses’
Photocopies from microfilm or fiche from Record Offices will be charged at cost. This varies depending on the repository and can be between 50p – £2. Photocopies from original documents i.e. Parish Registers are around £1.50 – £2.50. GRO Birth, Marriage and Death Certificates (currently £11.00) and research documents purchased on your behalf are also charged at cost. I will of course agree with you in advance what photocopies or certificates you want.
